Worthington is a small North West Leicestershire village located approximately 5 miles North West of Ashby De La Zouch. The village has a taste of history including the Methodist Chapel that was built in 1820 and the village prison lock up named the ‘Roundhouse’. In 1874 the Midland Railway extended Melbourne branch through Worthington parish to Ashby and opened Worthington Railway Station to serve the village. The line closed in the 1930’s and the line closed to Freight traffic in the 1980’s.
Worthington has a public house named ‘The Malt Shovel Inn’ and a village post office/supermarket. The parish is in the hunting county of the Quorn Hunt and is also home to the start of the Cloud Trail – a well known and recognised cycle route.
The village is 5 miles from East Midlands airport and junction 23a of the M1 Motorway. Other transport links can be accessed via surrounding villages.
