Woodville is a civil parish located approximately 4 miles North-West of Ashby De La Zouch and 6 miles South-East of Burton Upon Trent. Woodville formerly known as ‘The Wooden Box’ (from the wooden toll booth on the toll road) lies between Ashby and Burton where the ‘Tollgate’ roundabout is now situated.
Woodville and surrounding areas such as Swadlincote have an industrial heritage with a variety of industries including pipe works; breweries'; rope making; railways; potteries; crate making, sadly all of which have now diminished.
Although Woodville is a buusy commuter village with access to Ashby, Burton and Derby, the village has a large variety of amenities including a small shopping forecourt with a pharmacy, Tesco express and fish bar. Other shops on the high street include; hairdressers, post office and takeaway's.
There are several public houses both on the High Street and the nearby boundary and excellent leisure facilities at nearby 'Swadlincote'.
Woodville is situated between the market town of Ashby De La Zouch and Burton Upon Trent with many road links thereafter.
Woodville has a primary school named Woodville Church of England Junior School which feeds Granville Sports College.
